相聚一刻

星期一跟OAL的舊同事吃晚飯,見大家跟一年多前都一樣, 雖然我們當中幾個人在一年內相繼離任, 可以出來吃飯聊天,真好.

星期二提早一點到又一城逛書店,一逛就兩個多小時,很久沒見到那麼多中文書,不過自然又走到英文書當中. 跟UPort的同班同學Tracy'訴說'我在Portsmouth最後兩個月的'慘況',而她也有牢騷. 一講又兩個多小時.....

星期四原本約了筱曼老師1715,但我1545已經回到母校走一趟,但因為是日test week,很多老師已經走了,而學校也不像平日那麼多學弟學妹. 我差不多三四年沒有回母校,它變了很多,現在於我們以前的基地 - 二號籃球場 - 旁邊多建一幢教學樓,與舊翼相同. 而以前是實驗室的五樓,現在是乒乓球室(我哋以前得兩張波檯喺staff room出面練波,有冇攪錯!!!! 不過我哋就型啲,因為多人睇到嘛!! 失禮,小女子曾經一度是table tennis team) 和'天台花園',現在的學弟學妹真爽. 陳偉傑老師和陳達莉老師還記得我的名字,而黃偉副校更笑說: 梗記得啦,頭號'曳'學生,仲要係女仔!! 不過我記得我當公民教育小組的chairlady時,黃副校給我很多機會.

moo's choice (英倫音樂)

我對音樂(尤甚是流行音樂)認識不多,但對英倫音樂(古典或pop)比較情有獨鍾. 小時候George Michael, Culture Club大行其道, 英倫音樂從此殖根我的世界.

幾年前,朋友介紹了一隊叫Gene的樂隊給我認識,他們在香港不是很出名,偶然電視台會用其音樂做jingle. 在英國唸書時,特別去找他們的唱片,但產量不多,而且很多英國人(非indie)都不認識他們. 一心想在英國看他們的音樂會,但最後得知Gene在2004年解散,真有點後悔. http://www.olympians-online.co.uk/

今年,因為經常在學校的gym room活動,在電視看見一隊叫Editors在暑期推出the back room. 好奇心推駛後,花了10英鎊買了這張cd. 上星期又因為好奇心,在HMV找editors,要HK$180.....好彩...http://www.editorsofficial.com/

因為Madonna的原故,留意William Orbit. 有一次在HMV的減價CD堆中,找到Orbit的water from a vine leaf (1994),極電子+迷幻,不需吃'fing頭丸'也'wing到爆',加上當年幫朋友在fringe club做展覽,自己都以為自己很迷幻...http://www.williamorbit.com

幾年前沒有很留意verve,直到看了Richard Ashcroft的song for the lovers(alone with everybody)就開始喜歡. 2002年的human conditions很一般,而且到了2005,他還沒打算出新大碟的跡象. http://www.richardashcroft.com/

在上AV課時要看"hall of fame"這電視節目,當時lemar obika在幾個參賽者中可算是技驚四座,我買了他第一張cd "dedicated". 一些樂評人對他的評價就很一般. http://www.lemar-online.com/

我從來沒有比較過fat boy slim跟chemical brothers,喜歡fat boy slim是由原始人進化dj友的mtv right here right now開始. 本應今年夏天可以到fat boy slim的發跡地 - brighton看他的live,後來因為忙著打點回港的瑣事而擱置. http://www.fatboyslim.net/

我的2005年度心水好書

2005年上旬,因為要好好完成畢業論文,閱讀範圍大多關於博物館學(museum studies)一類書刊. 到了六月開始,又因為要準備九月去柏林和布拉格,主攻lonely planet. 到了我的summer flatmate用三天時間讀完Dan Brown的達文西密碼(da vinci code),覺得匪夷所思的同時,自己也開始積極'刨'書.

1] 品味歷程 - 董橋 (在異鄉讀存爵先生的文章,倍覺思鄉)

2] 小說家的13堂課 - 王安憶 (關於文學創作,筱曼老師說她用了兩三個通宵讀完此書,我覺得王安憶用一個寫作人的身份分析文學創作,頗有趣. 但肯定不是一般消閒讀物,也不能不打十二分精神)

3] da vinci code - Dan Brown (名氣+才氣 = 成功密碼. 不能否認Brown用了很多時間心機作資料收集,而且情節緊湊,不是過譽之作)

4] angels and demons - Dan Brown (挾da vinci code的餘威,此書起用同一個主角,但背景由法國羅浮宮搬到梵蒂岡. 情節同樣緊湊,但略嫌誇張了一點. )

5] a history of english - Barbara Fennell (關於英文的來由和歷史. 畢竟是很academic的教科書,有些是深入淺出,但有些則是'讀完都係一頭霧水')

現在正努力David Gibbins的atlantis.

懶鬼

回來香港已經兩星期了,但可能在倫敦小住的個多月'歎懶個身',加上習慣英國的'慢動作',所以這兩星期總是提不起勁.

回港翌日去理髮;也跟親朋友好吃了很多頓飯,身體又漸漸'心廣體胖';上星期也申請了浸會大學的工作. 不過,這星期仍是吃喝玩樂:星期一跟polly.sophia,myra,jenjen,德德姨在habitu吃晚飯,星期二跟八妹tracy,星期四和筱曼老師吃下午荼,星期五可能跟polly去那個比慕尼黑遲了一個月的oktoberfest (香港真奇怪!). 星期六最academic,因為晨早要去參加'文物保護與考古研究研討會'.

uport的同學,除了tracy外,還未有機會見其他. 還要找我的偶像dr. sinn和cityu的老師吃飯. 稍後,要向大表哥拜師學文物修復. 最緊要還是好好收拾房間那二百多本書和文件,積極找工作和備戰明年揸打10公里.

那麼多事情要辦,怎能繼續懶下去.

weird but fun : September + October

I paid an one-day trip in Cambridge on 25/9. When I just entered the open market which was located near the King's College, I saw an old gentleman and noted that he is Lord David Wilson, the second last governor of Hong Kong (27th, 1987-1992). I stepped forward and asked him for taking photograph. He smiled and asked "are you from Hong Kong?". Actually, no one recognized him (local people) that he was a celebrity/politician. He is very nice and we had a short conversation.

When I was in York, I was quite sure I saw "ghost". In fact, the scenario was not scary. When I walked along on the city wall at 6pm (not yet sunset), I saw a small black dog playing with 'someone' in the flat garden just beneath the wall. There was an old couples coming to my way, so I moved a bit towards the wall in order to let them pass through. Then, I kept walking to the other higher level. Within these 5 seconds, the dog and 'the one' disappeared. Because of the slope and angel of the wall, I, actually, did not see 'the one'. But I saw a wooden stick throwing outside from somewhere and the dog went to pick it up. When I realized that they disappeared, I stood still at the edge of the wall and checked whether they had hidden somewhere. But there was no place to hide and the gate is around 40m away from the place they used to be. Thus, it was quite impossible for them to leave the garden within 5 seconds and disappeared ouside the range of sight.

On 4/10, I went to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich and I saw Mrs. Margaret Thatcher in a very close distance (I was the only visitor who was close to her). I did not dare to ask for taking photograph as she was accompanied with 2 body guards + 2 museum curators + 2 reporters. Thus, I just looked at her. Some visitors also recognized her. She still looked good but quite old now.

Wow, I have never though that I would meet some celebrities in the UK within one month (I saw Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles and Dutch Philip in Barmer last September). Will I meet Sandy Lam again before her concert held? (well, I met her twice)
